Take a DNA test...

and you'll see that it matches Zimmers. Epicness all over the place!

You are truly one of my favorite artists here on newgrounds, everything you submit is so... alive. When a piece like this starts playing with your imagination, and you actually experience a movie like scene in your head, you know you've got something going on.

If I were to critisize something, it would have to be that the ending gets a bit loud :D But hey, I'm no one.

Awesome work Peter!

Ok, let's see here..

First off I'd like to apologize for the delayed review. I've been a bit busy. ;)

This is really great. I can't really comment on anything in particular. It sounds like your other submissions, which isn't bad. As the guy below me said, you've got a really interesting style and you don't find this kind of stuff that often. Great work man!

Calamaistr responds:

:) thanks man.

Hmm..

Interesting track. ;P But as I got the inside scoop of it, it might be easier to understand what the track is all about.

You're right, you can compare this track with puberty. :D When it first starts off it's a bit awkward. The melody line is quite thin and there isn't that many elements in the mix. As it progresses, new elements are introduced and it kind of evolves into this really awesome, and let's say complete track.

Awesome track. I respect people trying to make some original video game music haha. :D I've been doing that myself for a while now, and it's really fun! You did a great job here!

Calamaistr responds:

thank you, and to think that was 8 years ago. God i love making music. :)

Damn :D

Haha, I can't help but laugh when I hear this. :D I like the synthesized voice very much, kinda gives the track a "modern" feel accompanying the 8-bit feel.

The hole track is really unpredictable, which I think is really hard to do. I would never be able to something like that. ;) I'm more of a "from point A to point B" kind of guy. Kudos to you for that!

You've got all the classic sounds in there and you've REALLY managed to use them well. The track also loops perfectly. Very nicely done!

Calamaistr responds:

the synthesised voice was very fun to make, it was the first time i used a program that contained this and had to make each word and tune it individually. The whole singing of it is meant to be slightly loose on the track, i wanted this track to sound dark and sinister, i got a weakness for dark fairytales such as alice in wonderland and little red riding hood. (the original versions not the childrens versions) and decided instead of using a robotic voice, or that of a man.. to use that of a little girl.

Also, something i didnt add in the description was the H. C. D. M. she monotonously calls out twice during the refrain.
This stands for the alchemic composition.

hcdm, the four basic qualities of hotness, coldness, dryness, and moistness.
Fire was both hot and dry, earth cold and dry, water cold and moist, and air hot and moist.

This refers to the potion naturally. Isnt it nifty?

Thanks for your review mate.

Touching :)

Wow.. Can I be honest? I think the touching story of Fey gave this track more character and becouse of that it became so much better!
I love it when people have a story to their track, it makes the music more alive and it gives the listener an idea of what the composer had in mind writing the melody.

The piano you used isn't the best, but it did make the track sound more suitable for an old game. Something like Harvest Moon or an old RPG game. I actually quite like the "bad" quality of it, makes me feel nostalgic. :) I love the effect you have in the background. That ticking sound, or as i hear it, the sound of snowflakes coming down from the sky.

Awesome work Calamaistr! :D Just plain awesome!

Calamaistr responds:

Yea i used fl keys for the piano and enhanced its sound with a bass guitar because i couldnt find my quality piano (only recently got a V2 download containing such and still being new to the whole fl thing i had some trouble directing it to the right destination filewise.)

The tinkles indeed were meant as snowflakes or at the least the verification of winter.

At the beginning is still the sadness of her father gone, with just a little hope and the childs imagination of writing a letter to the snowmen to bring her father back, when the melody sets in the hope becomes longing and happyness that she actually recieved confirmation her father is still alive leading into their reuniting.

Tbh the story wrote itself as i was typing, listening and adjusting parts in the music.

secrectly im also hoping that it might inspire a flash artist to make it into something more. :)
Im very pleased with this entry on my own work and i think thats the most important.

Thank you for recognicing these things tomppaah. And thanks for the review. ^^
-Calamaistr.

Haha :D

The name is pretty funny. :D

The song itself is also quite awesome. When it hits 1:50 shit really hits the fan. All the synths you've used fits great together, and the snare... The snare does sound awesome. :D That little *boink* sound effect, or whatever i should call it, is cool :P

Second time listening to this I heard something new at 1:36 which also caught my interest. ;) Good work man!

Wth?

Whats up with the low score? :O This is awesome! It really does sound like piece from a old Nes game, how could anyone else say otherwise. This will definitely fit into a flying level, grea job man! :)

Calamaistr responds:

thank you tomppaah, i really think that the people that voted low werent old enough to have experienced 16bit. ;)

I personally saw the first listener vote 0 on it (cause i dont vote 5 on my own submissions anymore to untill they drop out of the list.)

have you heard the main theme?

Damn Peter.. Or should i say Hans?..

Someday I'd like to sound as good as you. No not your voice, I've never even heard you squeak. What i mean is your music, it's so damn epic!.

All your music submissions are just so awesome, you really put ALL of your emotions in the tracks don't you? How the hell do you do that? :D Amazing man, I could really see this in a movie. It has that "perfect quality" thing again.

You have loads of talent! I could hear the massive potential you have in the Classical Podcast on Itunes. Excellent work. I really like Autumn is on its way by you!

Thanks so much Tomppaah!

Yeah :D

Not as action packed as the run of the mill DnB track, but awesome nonetheless! You're a really skilled musician you know :) but i bet you hear that all the time.

Greatness!

InvisibleObserver responds:

Its interesting actually, I do get told I'm quite skilled, and I know as well (yes I'm modest), but I don't spend my time making everyone aware of the fact.

Its easy online to pop a link, to someone I don't know very well, to my music. In real life though, not so much. I constantly hear from random people that I loosely know that they heard through a friend of a friend of mine that I make music.

It always surprises me when people start asking me about it without my bringing the subject up. I find it much more rewarding then if I need to prompt such a response my self by specifically asking for one.

Holy slug!

Damn! :D This is some seriously imaginative stuff man. 10 bpm? I've never even thought of making a track at that kind of speed haha. This really fits in the Misc section, you can't really give it any other genre can you? Well atleast not me. Keep it up man!

Haha, I like the jamaican beat that suddenly hopped in. :D

InvisibleObserver responds:

Ah yes. The reggae bass-line.

I couldn't sleep in this futon at a cottage, got up, and decided the song needed it.

Most people don't notice it or comment on it, good to know someone has, and took the time to alert me.
